The question of whether the earth is roughly 6000 years old or billions of years old is always fodder for a hot debate. How should Christians address the issue?
May I suggest these four questions:
- When God spoke the world into existence, couldn’t He have made it any age?
- When Adam drew his first breath, was he a newborn or an adult?
- Did God create each swimming, crawling, creeping, or leaping creature as an embryo or a mature critter?
- Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
Age and linear time is a function of man’s limited understanding, not the Truth of God.
All the clamor about the age of the earth may be interesting, but not relevant to anything of importance to Christians.
Have a wonderful day in God’s creation!
