Jesus Christ: Wanted Dead or Alive in the 21st Century

Have you noticed that the world is becoming a place of us vs. them?  Have you given up watching the evening news because it is so distasteful or incredulous?

“Oh the clamour of these days! Everyone is clamouring  -for what? For the Son of God to be put to death.”

My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers (1874 – 1917)

It’s far easier to get folks to agree about spirituality when it’s linked to “God” or some “Higher Power.” What happens the moment you narrow the discussion of Spirit to Jesus Christ?

What happens is you lose fellowship, friendliness, and political and social good will. You become the enemy of all but those who also seek relationship with Christ.

Who is the stumbling block? Jesus is the stumbling block.

There are only two possible roads for humans to travel between birth and death; a path of abundant life with Jesus Christ or the other that seeks to kill Him. Every path other than one which permits us to walk hand-in-hand and heart-in heart with the Spirit of Christ seeks His destruction as either an irritant or a threat.

You are either a child of God or a child of Satan.  [1 John 3:7-10]

Current Campaigns Against Christ

  • Prohibiting Christian speech in school
  • Prohibiting Christian speech in the military
  • Evolution, a “science” without evidence, accepted as proof against Jesus Christ
  • The rebirth of Communism, the ultimate battle for power between God and Man
  • Christian values removed from the law
  • Christian symbols removed from public eye
  • Jesus Christ fictionalized to promote the lie that He was not divine (ex. The DaVinci Code)
  • Islam and Atheism protected against evil Christians
  • The Quran is protected and considered holy by law, the US military burns Bibles as potentially offensive
  • Abortion a new sacrament
  • Homosexuals a protected class against the evil Christian
  • Children are created in laboratories, not the marriage bed.

There is no way to satisfy those who seek Christ in order to marginalize Him, to deny Him, to kill the very mention of Him. The instant you insert Christ into any discussion you will be condemned, marginalized, denied, or one day killed yourself.

For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ – Luke 7:33-35

Some people think that black folks cannot be racist by definition. Of course that makes no sense. The same philosophical foundation believes that speaking against Christians cannot, by definition,  be intolerance.

Christians – Convicted of Social and Legal Intolerance

The temptation is always present to go along to get along.  Christians are deemed intolerant by those who consider tolerance the ultimate test of any policy or position. Yet these same people who worship tolerance believe the profession of faith in Jesus Christ is de facto evidence of intolerance or even hate speech.

Logic doesn’t play a role in the battle for souls between God and Satan. We know who wins the war; the only question is which side you are on. Do you lift up Christ or seek His death? There is no third option.

Jesus was reprimanded by his parents for remaining in Jerusalem when the family left to return to Nazareth.  How could it be that this perfect child would be disobedient and intentionally cause his parents concern? Was Jesus’ behavior out of character as his parents obviously thought or completely in character?  [Luke 2:48-50]

“Am I continually saying with amazement to my commonsense life – Why do you want to turn me off here? Don’t you know that I must be about my Father’s business?” – Oswald Chambers

How is it possible to understand what’s happening in our families, community, nation, and world? The only source of truth is God’s Word. The message is clear that there will be “a falling away” and obedient Christians will be thrown out of the churches or even killed as a service to God.

Is God Able to “Heal our Land”?

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. – 2 Chronicles 7:14

The only context that explains current events is to realize that we are “in that day.” Every voice you hear, every word you read either proclaims Christ as Lord or seeks to destroy Him. Can God repair every heart, soul, and mind? Can He heal our land? Of course He can. The relevant question is, “Will He?”

There is no reason to fear anything that comes along, God is still on His throne. Nothing happens beneath His notice or concern and there is nothing that ever was or ever will be He cannot change, redeem, or remove. But will He?

Every person alive today wants Jesus Christ – dead or alive. New Creations in Christ know that He who once was dead is now alive and will reign in eternity. The worldly just want Him gone and don’t care how it happens. They want us gone.

But…

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33

Sticking my neck out to say no, He won’t, Lynn. Only a few will turn. The Jews didn’t meet the conditions to that glorious Chronicles promise and neither is any country in the world today. Every wake-up call is being ignored by people who know better, but the majority don’t know there is such a thing as a wake-up call. It’s difficult to know where we are, “in the days of Noah,” start, mid, end – but there’s no turning back. Great post,

    Roger

    • Lynn Lynn:

Indeed, Roger. If ALL in “our land” would humble themselves and pray God might grant a reprieve, but since those who pray are a precious few, your neck is probably safe.
      Blessings,
      Lynn

  2. Dan Cooksey:

I wish I could find something in your post to disagree with, but I can’t. I don’t worry about Betty and me. We’re old enough that our time on this earth will end before too long. I fear for our children and grandchildren for it will get worse, I’m afraid, in their lifetimes. It will take much more courage to proclaim the name of Christ in their day.

Don’t mean to sound pessimistic – just what I see.

    Dan

    • Lynn Lynn:

Dan, not pessimistic, but realistic. The concern reported most often by Christians is much like yours, “What about the kids and grandkids?” But just as Christ lives within you He lives within each child of every generation, whether 9 or 99. He has brought us through the difficult times in our lives and will do the same for the younger Christians coming up.

In another way we are privileged to observe Bible prophecy working out before our eyes. Reminding myself that some of the eyes around are blind and ears stopped keeps me in that place of peace Jesus offers. They really don’t know what they do.

Ezekiel 9 tells us that mourning the state of the world around us guarantees that we are God’s chosen. So even in our mourning there is gladness.
      Blessings.
